How is plywood produced?

Birch logs are first immersed in a hot water pool to ensure that resins and tar are removed from the wood and that the fibres themselves become more ductile. After steaming, the logs are sent for bucking. The log is clamped and rotates around an axis and a knife the full length of the log begins to peel and remove the veneer. This procedure resembles, sharpening a pencil or unwinding a roll of paper and the end result is a veneer sheet of 1-1.5 mm thick.

In the production of high quality plywood, it is necessary that the veneer be of the same thickness along the entire length of the segment. Then it is cut to certain sizes, after which it enters special drying chambers. After which it is selected by variety. The veneer webs are glued, alternating the layers so that the fibers of adjacent layers are mutually perpendicular. This is a prerequisite for obtaining quality products. Then all this is sent under pressure. After pressing, the plywood is cut to the size that the finished product should be and is obtained. At the customer’s request, high grades of plywood are ground. Subsequently, the plywood is packed in bundles and ready for shipment.

Raw Veneers, are repaired to  remove defects and improve the quality of the material. This may include removing knots, stains, scratches or other damage, as well as filling holes and cracks with special compounds. The repaired veneer has high strength and durability, which ensures high quality finished products. This may include small veneer patches typically, oval, round, or even butterfly and other spider shaped variants. This is typically important for front face veneer.
 
Veneer pressing is done to increase the density and strength of the material, as well as to improve its appearance. During pressing, the veneer is compressed between two heated plates to remove air bubbles and improve its texture. In addition, the pressed veneer has a higher resistance to moisture, temperature and mechanical stress, which increases its service life in finished products.
Plywood is trimmed and sanded in production to give it precise dimensions, shape and smooth surface. This improves the quality of the plywood, makes it more attractive and convenient for use in various industries such as furniture manufacturing, construction and others.
 
Laminating and painting the ends of plywood is gives the plywood additional strength and resistance to moisture, while painting the ends allows to hide small defects and make the plywood edges more aesthetically pleasing. This makes the plywood more attractive for use in the furniture industry and other industries where product appearance is important.
 
Readied Plywood is stored in special warehouses where optimal temperature and humidity are maintained to prevent its deformation and cracking. In addition, warehousing allows organizing convenient storage and transportation of products, as well as providing access to the necessary stock at any time. Plywood is stacked in optimal sized crates, and may be packed in heavy paper or special film, which protects it from moisture, dust and mechanical influences. Labeling on packs contains information about the manufacturer, type of plywood, its dimensions, thickness and other parameters necessary for the selection and use of products. It is necessary to protect products from damage during transportation and to ensure easy identification.
